Areas to measure

Our items are made to the precise measurements you provide. Please use a soft measuring tape and measure with your dog in a standing position. The measurements provided will become the inner circumference of the harness straps. If you prefer a looser fit, add room on your own. For thick-coated dogs, pull the tape through and measure as close to the skin as possible.

The diagram below is for your reference only as the build of each dog is different. You're welcome to send in photos of your dog with a measuring tape wrapped around for us to double confirm the measurements. Simply drop us a message on Instagram!

As every item is handcrafted, a difference of +/- 1-2cm is considered acceptable.

1 - Head girth: tightly around the largest part of the head, ears included (slide tape in and out of the head to make sure that the measurement allows the strap to slip in and out of the head

2 - Base of neck: where the neck strap will sit and it should be equal or larger than the head girth*

3 - Chest: right behind the front legs

4 - Back strap: between the connecting points of 2 & 3, widths of straps excluded

5 - Underbelly strap: between the connecting points of 2 & 3, widths of straps excluded

*if the measurement of base of neck is smaller than the head girth, the neck strap will be made according to the head girth

2 - Neck: the narrowest part of the neck*

*the neck measurement should be smaller than the head girth so the collar does not slip out easily. If your dog has a neck girth larger than the head girth, we recommend using a martingale or slip collar

The static load below is for reference only. The length of a leash will also affect the load. A dog can generally pull up to 2 to 3 times their weight; and even more by strong pullers.

When you pick your hardware, please take into account your dog's weight and size; activity level; use condition (whether it will be soaked in seawater or always be exposed outdoors); and your dog's behaviour (for example, circling adds a lot of pressure and abrasion to the parts of the hardware).

Choosing between zinc alloy and stainless steel: Stainless steel is an excellent choice for durability and longevity as it tends not to rust when exposed to rain or water. However, stainless steel is a lot heavier than zinc alloy, so it might not be suitable for small pets.

Choosing between swivel and non-swivel hardware: A swivel hook allows the leash to rotate as the pet moves, but the movement of swivel results in friction which may result in wear and breakage over time. Non-swivel hardware is most recommended for large dogs or dogs that pull.
